We have started to pick up some items, such as cleaning supplies, hygiene items. So far, we have:

The Living Room

We have been very fortunate so far and have received several of the larger items for the living room.

We have a couch and chair set, coffee table and end tables, as well as another single chair.

Our First Post

The churches of St Jacobs - St Jacobs Mennonite, Calvary United and St James Lutheran - have joined forces to help a Palestinian family, currently living in the Al Hol Refugee Camp in Syria. Our family consists of a young mother and father, their 18 month old son and soon to be born baby. The family will move to Canada once the baby has been born and the family's paperwork has been completed and approved.

As the sponsors of this family, we take responsibility for them for their first 12 months in Canada, by providing them with housing and furnishings, money for food and clothing, utilities and so on. Additionally, we will help them to learn and improve their English, to get to appointments, to complete further paperwork as required and help them adjust to their new country.

We decided to create this blog as a way for the congregations of the 3 churches of St Jacobs to keep up to date on the family and also as a way to track donations of goods and time.
